 Book recommendation
« Thread Started on Jun 6, 2008, 6:33am »

Hello,
which book(s) do you recommend covering on-field (primary) treatment of athletic injuries?
I am a physical therapist asked to work for baseball/softball teams during games and on road trips/camps.
I am therefore looking for good literature giving a good overview and at the same time being advanced and geared towards trainers/therapists.

Thanks.

There is a book "On-Field Evaluation & Treatment of Common Athletic Injuries" that was written by Dr. James Andrews, Dr. William Clancy and Dr. James Whiteside that I think would be an excellent resource for you. The ISBN number for this book is 0-8151-0218-6 It is becoming difficult to find, but I checked Amazon.com and saw that they had some used copies available.

A book written by Dr. Chad Starkey is an excellent resource as well. This is the second edition but if you wait until December, the third edition will be out too

Are there any other sports medicine books you would recommend?
I am looking for something that covers a wide range besides injury treatment such as prevention, warm-up, strenght traing, nutrition, and exercise with chronic illness such as asthma and diabetes.
thanks
