So with most machines/exercises there can be a reason to use it or not use it. Some machines/exercises can be more efficient than other methods of achieving an outcome, but there are many ways to achieve whatever goal you might have. It just depends on the person and goals. Have you had any hip, back, or knee problems in the past? Also have you personally ever used the machines and if so have they given you problems in the past?
