Hey there, folks. I am hoping to find some direction here.
I have an 11 year old son who was just diagnosed with a 'slight' UCL tear and sprain of the common flexor tendon. He has played little league for the past 6 years and started travel ball last year. He is not a "pitcher" but he does pitch in games. He threw approximately 250 game pitches all little league season (15 games), and worked with a former professional pitcher to work on his mechanics twice a month during the season.
My kid identifies as a catcher and played all but two games this past at the position and played the position primarily in travel ball during the Fall season. He is fierce behind the plate with an absolute cannon for an arm. I believe this may be the primary reason for his current condition, but who knows.
We live in a small northern California town about an hour north of Sacramento and want to find a reputable pediatric orthopedist who can take a look at him. This is at the suggestion of a family friend who is a physical therapist who had been working with our boy since the pain first emerged about three weeks ago. I have read the opinions of a Dr. Glenn Fleisig on these pages and am hoping for some guidance from him or any of y'all who know people in these parts. Don't mind driving to Sac if that is the recommendation.
