In the book "Saving the Pitcher" by Will Carroll there is discussion of a stretching technique called "clasp knife" by Pavel Tsatsouline . It seems like an extreme form of PNF stretching. I have not been able to find any other references to this technique other than Pavel Tsatsouline's own writings. I did a PubMed, Google Scholar, and EBSCO search. Does anyone at ASMI have any thoughts on this technique?

I spoke with Will Carroll about this, and he agreed that the "clasp knife" does seem like a variation of PNF. Will also told me:
Tsatsouline gets some pretty amazing results from an easily explained methodology. It was my intent to find something that could be done cheaply and easily that any child could understand. The "clasp knife" method worked (and continues to work) well in my experience.
I spoke with the PTs I work with, and they've never heard of this exercise.
