Can anyone help us. My daughter has a stomach muscle injury from playing tennis, she is an elite player training 5 hrs a day. Top 40 in the UK. She is 18 years old. The injury results from her serve. The injury is unusual as it it is near her stomach button and the pain is intense and to the right of it and just above. She is right handed and the injury is on her dominant side. In December she had an ultra sound scan which showed no muscle tears just some scaring, she has undertaken a rehabilitation programme for three months and on her return to competition she broke down in her second match. She has seen a specialist who is unsure of the problem, so a new ultrasound scan has been undertaken, this showed that the rectus abdominus has if anything improved since Christmas and may not be the issue. Has any one any ideas as the suggestion at the monment is to not play for upto 12 months!
