My 14 year old daughter has been pitching for 2 years. She just finished playing with her travel team and had arm pain on the underneath part of her arm between the wrist and elbow. There are no pitch count restrictions and basically the mentality is girls can pitch as much as they can. She sees a qualified pitching coach for mechanics. It has been suggested by "others" she should be able to pitch 1.5 to 2 games per day in a 14U tournament. And, she should be throwing 100 pitches every day by "others".

The "others" you refer to probably also state that the windmill is a "natural motion". Idiotic. I have treated far too many youth softball pitchers for injuries sustained when their AAU coaches destroy them over a weekend tournament. I can't give you exact numbers, but my suggestion is one game every couple of days at most. Just because "everybody does it" doesn't make it right. If your daughter was a baseball pitcher, this question would never be asked. The stresses placed on the elbow and shoulder of softball pitchers is almost as bad as baseball pitchers. Please keep that in mind. Good luck.
