for the last 7 months my right hip flexor has been bothering me when i kick the ball and sometimes run. it bothers it to strech it in a few ways and also sometimes when its against resistance. Lately the pain has been in both left and right hips. im 15 and rapidly growing. Is this pain from growing or is it a strain?

qbeaupre: Hip pain can be difficult to assess. If you have a hip flexor strain and never give it a chance to fully heal and rehabilitate, it will continue to come back. The L hip pain may just be compensation. I have treated many "hip flexor strains" that turn out to be a joint injury or a bone issue so your best bet is to see a sports medicine orthopaedic physician and then get into therapy with a good sports medicine physical therapist. If it has been going on for seven months it may take a while to heal. When you are through with PT, get into a strength and conditioning program with a CSCS and work on all aspects of conditioning: strength, flexibility, and endurance. Though you soccer players tend to play year round (unfortunately), technically you are in your offseason right now. Get it fixed over the summer and then be ready for the fall. Good luck!
